POLICE have warned that organised thieves are travelling from London to Kent to steal high-performance cars.

Five incidents were reported in the Dartford and Shorne area between August 13 and August 20.

In two cases, a Subaru Imprezza and a Mini were taken. In three others, the attempts were unsuccessful.

Det Sgt Mike Worrall said that thieves got hold of keys by either hooking them through a letter box or opening an unlocked front door.

He added: "I would urge people not to leave their keys within sight or easy reach of a letter box and ask anyone with a PVC front door to make sure they double lock it from the inside, especially at night."
