DARTFORD'S water mains system is being overhauled.

The project, set to last until 2009, could see supplies turned off and roads dug up as miles of old pipework is replaced.

Dr Howard Stoate, MP for Dartford, said: “It is good news that Thames Water are investing in our water supplies.

“We do need the works done, we just have to be careful how they are carried out."
