Redbridge 1 Welling 2

PAUL BOOTH ended a run of six games without a goal by grabbing a brace for managerless Welling at Redbridge on Saturday.

Booth struck at the end of each half with the winner coming four minutes into stoppage time from the penalty spot.

Welling were under the charge of Liam Daish and Nigel Gurney after manager Paul Parker's departure last week and made one notable change by dropping former Dover midfielder Lee Spiller.

The home side went ahead on 29 minutes when Julian Edwards fired home but the Wings levelled on 45 minutes after Booth latched on to an underhit back pass.

It was all Welling after the break and Ian Wiles had a header cleared off the line before Booth struck from the penalty spot in stoppage time after on-loan striker Jo Flack had been tripped.

Stand-in boss Daish, who did his chances of taking the job full-time no harm, said: "Once we settled down into the game we got stronger and stronger and there was only one team in it during the second half.

"Lew Watts was magnificent at the back and Jamie Day's work-rate was excellent in midfield while it was pleasing that Paul Booth is back on the goal trail."
