Woman accused of 'spitting in officers faces' at Co-op in Swanley High Street

A woman has been accused of spitting in the faces of police after robbing a shop.

It's alleged Naomi Bignall, of no fixed address, visited the Co-op store in Swanley High Street last Wednesday and stole various bits of meat.

The 38-year-old visited the shop the following day where she is accused of assaulting members of staff and a customer when challenged about stealing.

She is also reported to have made claims she had Covid-19 symptoms.

Officers attended the scene and arrested Bignall.

While in custody she is alleged to have spat in the faces of two of them while also spitting in the direction of a third officer.

Bignall was charged with three counts of assault on an emergency worker, and three counts of assault by beating.

She was also charged with robbery and one count of theft.

Bignall was remanded in custody after appearing at Medway Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

She will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, July 17.
