A woman found dead at her home has been named.

Police broke down the door of Ruth Newnham's Dartford house on Monday morning after neighbours reported their concerns having not seen her in several weeks.

The 62-year-old was found dead at the scene and residents said it was obvious she had been there for some time.

Ruth Newnham was found in her house in Keyes Road, Dartford (2767029)

One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said Mrs Newnham used to work at Asda's depot at Greenhithe but was made redundant last year.

He added she had lived at the property for at least 35 years and had alone for the last four to five after her husband, Les, left.

Police spokesman Vicki Foster confirmed the force attended a medical incident at the property along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service at 9am on Monday.

A report of Mrs Newnham's death has been passed to the coroner and an inquest will be opened in due course.
