The M25 was closed last night after a car crash which saw one woman taken to hospital.

The accident happened just after midnight between junctions three and two.

Fire fighters from the Dartford station were returning from another accident when they came across the crashed Mercedes which was in the central reservation.

A spokesperson from the station said they "did our best with the one fire engine that was there" and called for assistance.

The woman was slid out of the car by the paramedics and taken to Kings Hospital in London. Her injuries are believed to be minor.

A rescue engine arrived from the station and a rolling road block was formed behind the crash. The M25 was then closed at Swanley.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.12am to the M25 between junction 3-2 anti-clockwise to a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Mercedes that was in the central reservation.

"A female was trapped in the car and was freed by crews from KFRS. She was taken to Kings Hospital in London."

The motorway was reopened by 1.50am.
