Addicks wait on Weaver and Cranie

Injury doubt Nicky Weaver

Charlton v Coventry

Charlton caretaker manager Phil Parkinson awaits fitness reports on goalkeeper Nicky Weaver and right-back Martin Cranie before finalising his team for Tuesday's home game against Coventry.

Weaver sustained a back injury after falling awkwardly near the end of Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Blackpool while Cranie dislocated his left shoulder in the 77th minute of the same game and was taken to Blackpool Hospital where the injury was x-rayed.

Should Weaver fail a fitness test, Medway youngster Rob Elliot will start his first game for the club following last season's debut as a substitute at Plymouth.

"I'll leave it late before deciding on the fitness of both players," said Parkinson. "What's important is that we roll up our sleeves and battle because I don't want to come in again - as I did on Saturday - and say that we were second best."

The match is Parkinson's fourth in charge and he is desparate for a win to endorse his credentials as Alan Pardew's successor on a full-time basis.

The Addicks, who dropped to the foot of the Coca-Cola Championship on Saturday night, are deep in relegation trouble after 11 league games without a win.
