Dartford manager Tony Burman on the 4-2 win over Eastbourne

Despite conceding two late goals, Dartford boss Tony Burman praised his players for carrying out their gameplan to near-perfection on Tuesday night.

The Darts were 3-0 up after 75 minutes against an Eastbourne team who enjoyed plenty of possession but couldn’t create many chances against a solid home rearguard.

“The players did ever so well,” said Burman. “We were organised again. Eastbourne played well, they get the ball into the front two’s feet and we handled that really well and defended as per usual.

“We didn’t want to go and break them down in the first five minutes.

“When they pass it about like they do, they are going to make mistakes and you can close them down and that’s what we waited for. That’s why we handled the game really well in the first 70 minutes.”

Burman was not happy with the two goals Dartford conceded but he knows that they are now back on track to their target of picking up average of two points per game throughout the league campaign.

“We got the third goal and I’m just disappointed that a couple of people decided to do the things that they wanted to do instead of keeping to what they’ve been doing for the last 11 games,” said Burman.

“I think there were a few people dead on their feet to be honest with you, it’s tiring to play 11 games but at the same time the opposition have had 11 games.

“As much as we want to score goals, we want to keep clean sheets as well. In the last 15 minutes we lost a bit of concentration and had a lack of discipline.

“We’ve got back on our points tally. I want more than just two points (per game), I want more than that if we can and we’ve got to do that over the coming weeks.

“I’m pleased that we’ve got three points.”
