Transfer talks have started at Princes Park as Dartford continue to make preparations for life in Vanarama National League South.

Manager Tony Burman already has 10 players contracted for next season and he’s offered a new deal to left-winger Nathan Green but released fellow wide man Luke Daley.

Now his focus has turned to making new signings while other members of this season’s squad contemplate their futures.

Burman said: "I’ve spoken to a number of other players and I’ve told them of my interest.

"At this time you’re going to get everyone keeping their options open. You’ll win some and you’ll lose some but I’m not in any rush.

"I’m not getting into a financial war with anyone and I’m not going to break any budgets.”

Rory McAuley, Peter Sweeney and Harry Crawford are now free agents and although Burman would like them to stay at Dartford, he’s realistic about his chances.

He said: "Some of their football money is a major part of their income – they haven’t got jobs.

"If I put anything on the table, their aim is to play at the highest level they can and to train three days a week or full-time. They can see what’s out there and if they choose another club, there’s no hard feelings.

"If they don’t get a deal, I’m happy to invite them back for pre-season.

"I don’t want to burn any bridges. I’m not going into personal details but it’s a difficult time. I understand their situation and they understand mine.

"Unfortunately, we’ve been relegated and players will look for the best deals. When it’s their major income, they’ve got to think about themselves and their families."
