Dartford forward Tom Murphy wants to show fans what he's all about

Tom Murphy is desperate for an injury-free run so he can show Dartford fans his true colours.

Murphy’s best form to date was with Dover in the Conference four years ago.

While the likes of Stefan Payne and Ricky Miller from that squad have moved into the Football League, injuries have checked Murphy’s progress.

He arrived at Princes Park in December 2016 and is keen to make his mark.

Murphy said: “A lot of people keep saying they haven’t seen the best of me at Dartford and I probably agree.

“I’m trying to get fit, stay injury-free and show them the best of me.

“You get more confidence by scoring and creating goals, and the more confidence I get, especially in my position, the better I perform.”

Darts joint-boss Adam Flanagan was impressed as Murphy came off the bench to score one and set up another goal in the FA Cup win at AFC Uckfield on Saturday.

“I’ve never worked with Tom before,” said Flanagan. “I watched a few videos of his performances last year and Oxford City away I think he came in and scored a goal like that. I’ve been waiting to see that from Tom.

“I know he’s been out injured but in the chats that we’ve been having with him, we’ve said he needs to start delivering – whether it’s goals or assists – and against AFC Uckfield he got both.”

Murphy knew Darts were on a hiding to nothing against Uckfield but was pleased just to get through.

He said: “If you don’t win 6-0, you get judged. It doesn’t matter how you get through.

“The weather and the pitch meant it was never going to be an easy game.”
