Dartfordians RFC will complete a calendar year unbeaten at home if they avoid defeat against Beckenham on Saturday.

The London 2 South East leaders have won all 15 matches on their own patch in 2017 and chairman Jarrod Lawrence would love to make it a perfect 12 months.

He said: “I doubt it’s ever happened at our place before so it’s a huge thing to go for. Not wishing to put more pressure on the boys but it would be a great way to finish the year.

“We’re proud of our home record. We did worry that when we built the new changing rooms everyone would find it a lot easier to come to Darts but it’s not been the case.

“On the pitch, we’ve been excellent. We were unlucky last season not to get into the play-off spot but the fact the players have had the resilience to build that record over this year has been outstanding.”

Darts are nine points clear having won 11 straight games in the first half of the season.

Mr Lawrence said: “A couple of the fixtures recently have been tight but the boys have kept going and made sure they’ve stayed on the winning side.

“Beckenham, like all the other clubs, will be trying to knock our record over. If we weren’t the target before, we definitely are now.

“There’s a lot of good sides in the league but defensively, the guys just don’t stop and that’s important.

“When we’ve been up against it, we’ve made sure we’ve kept the other sides out and just edged it. The desire is there to keep the run going as long as we can.”

Saturday’s game kicks off at 2pm.
