The final of the Pups versus Grown Ups Owners Bonus race will be run on Saturday night with the winner receiving £500.

Last Saturday night saw two races, one for the Pups and one for the seniors, with the first three in each race going through to this weekend’s big final.

The youngsters' race went to Farran Major, who was followed home by Clonavaddy Dream and debutant Midori, while the older race was won by Bye Bye Cuckoo, ahead of Frosty Prince and Pebbles Daisy.

Farran Major had a trouble-free run taking up the lead early on and finishing in a time of 23.81sec, while Bye Bye Cuckoo had to do things the hard way after an indifferent start. By the last bend, she hit the front to come home in a time of 24.17.

These times would appear to give Farran Major the advantage this weekend as the dog had done a similar time to his heat win on one occasion before while Bye Bye Cuckoo has yet to break the 24-second barrier in 30 races.

We can expect Major to start as favourite and he is the only seeded wide runner, which will see him get trap six automatically.

So where, if at all, will the challenge come from? If it is a value bet that you are looking for, then your best chance may be with Pebbles Daisy, who has the experience of 54 races and if you go back to as recently as mid-March, she did a fast time of 23.75 for this 380m distance which would be good enough for her to take the final.

Much will depend on how she traps out as she is a far better dog when leading and dictating affairs but she is worthy of consideration.

The April Dog and Bitch-of-the-Month awards went to Sunhill Nev and Clongeel Bud in the dogs' section while Newlawn Minnie won the bitches' award.

Sunhill Nev is currently racing in grade A2 but I would suggest that you wait for the dog to be dropped back to A3 level before backing.

Clongeel Bud has only been out of the first two in three of his last 16 races and is always worthy of support.

Newlawn Minnie is in the form of her life, winning once in March to accompany three wins in April and cannot be discounted.
