There were 667 finishers in the popular Harvel 5 mile multi-terrain race on Saturday, won by Peter Tucker of Dartford Road Runners in 26min50sec, writes Alan Newman.

W45 Tina Oldershaw (Paddock Wood) won the women's race in 30.24 as both athletes successfully defended their titles, but Oldershaw was under great pressure as she has been undefeated at this venue since 2008.

Tucker was 49 seconds clear of Daniel Watt (Tunbridge Wells, 27.39) with Ben Louch (Dartford RR, 27.42) narrowly beaten into third place.

Leading M40 master was David Hall (Dartford RR, 29.25) with M50 honours for Steve Cable (Istead and Ifield, 30.39), M60 success for Paul Ross-Davies (Blackheath and Bromley Harriers, 33.51), M70 glory for James Fitzmaurice (Sevenoaks, 40.55) and M80 victory for Joe Cleverley (New Eltham, 44.39).

Oldershaw had to dig deep to resist the strong finish of Heather Fitzmaurice (W35 Sevenoaks, 30.29) as the winning margin was only five seconds. Nicola Wilkinson (Tonbridge, 31.17) completed the podium and was first junior.

Three local master athletes completed the top-six places. Claire Gaskill (W35 Gravesend, 32.22) was followed by Kerrie Clarke (W35 Medway and Maidstone, 33.21) and Ann Fuller (W45 Dartford RR, 33.41).

The remaining age-group winners were W55 PJ Bowyer-Jones (Larkfield, 39.58) and W65 Maureen Farmer (Dartford Harriers, 49.36).
