A new outlet for the Deal Area Emergency Foodbank has opened at the Salvation Army base in the town’s West Street.

This will offer a brand new open house evening which will allow people to come for a free meal and pick up food parcels.

It will be held every Wednesday from 5pm-7pm.

The open house was launched last week with volunteers from both Foodbank and the Salvation Army helping to make it a great success.

Lieutenant Kook Hwan Rho said: “This new scheme is not only for rough sleepers or homeless people around Deal area but also for vulnerable people who need emotional support, companionship and practical advice and help along with light hot refreshments.

“I hope people who come to our open house on every Wednesday are able to open their hearts and build creditable relationships with volunteers and other people who may be in a similar situation to them through eating together, taking part in social activities and sharing each other’s life stories, concerns and worries together."

For more information contact the Salvation Army on 01304 375398.
