The A258 Deal to Dover Road has reopened following a crash involving two vehicles and a fuel spillage.

The incident on the stretch of road between Queen’s Rise and The Five Bells in Ringwould happened at about 8.20am.

Police confirmed the road reopened at 9.55am.

The incident, believed to have involved a Channel Windows van and a light blue car, caused disruption to commuters and public transport.

Reports of a fuel spillage meant the road remained closed until it was cleared up by KKC Highways.

The Highways team took to Twitter to warn drivers about the fuel spillage. They rated the severity of the incident as high and asked drivers to use an alternative route and allow extra time for their journey.

Deal bound cars were redirected through Ringwould. The incident also disrupted public transport.

Stagecoach tweeted: “There has been an accident in Ringwould. Our 15 buses are unable to serve Deal at present.”

Three police cars and two ambulance vehicles attended the scene.

A spokesman said: “Police received a report of a collision involving a van and a car at 8.23am on Wednesday, February 25.

“There are reports of fuel on the road. Highways are dealing with it at the moment.

“One person has been taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.”
