Babies, boats and bands make up the Regatta week celebrations in Deal

Beautiful babies, their parents and grandparents will cram into Deal Welfare Club in Cowdray Square this afternoon for the hotly contested baby show from 1.45pm.

There are various heats including prizes for the child who looks most like its parent and the glamorous granny title. Entry is £1 per adult. For details, pick up a programme.

Deal Regatta Week Baby Show

This evening from 6pm, the Party on the Prom begins.

Deal will have a musical concert of its own with thousands flocking to the beach and the temporary stage at the apron of the Pier.

The Party on the Prom is always popular. This year The Kingsdown Band and Bad Penny will play

At 7pm the RNLI and HM Coastguard will give a rescue display on the water surrounding the pier. From 7.15pm is the Bank Buoy Scramble and at 7.30pm the fishing boat race takes off.

The RNLI and HM Coastguard will give a sea rescue demonstration at the Party on the Prom

The Kingsdown Band will entertain from the stage, supported by the Bad Penny Band.
