Police are seeking witnesses to what they describe as a "violent assault" in Deal.

It happened on Sunday May 12 at 1.30am when a 31-year-old local man was returning home from an evening out. As he was walking along Victoria Road, in the direction of Walmer, he saw a man with two women.

The man was being rude and abusive towards one of the women and the victim spoke to him about his behaviour. The man then allegedly punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall down.

Whilst on the ground, the victim was then kicked two or three times in the face. The alleged assault took place opposite a fast food shop.

The man and his two companions then walked off along Victoria Road in the direction of Dover.

The victim sustained head injuries as a result of the assault but didn’t need hospital treatment.

The alleged offender is described as about 19 or 20 years old, white European, six feet one inch tall with blonde hair. He was wearing a cream or beige track suit top and bottoms.

Anyone who saw the incident, or who knows who the offender is, should contact Kent Police 101 and quote crime number ZY/13111/13.
