Car crashes through railings and falls into Deal Castle moat

A car has crashed through railings and plummeted into Deal Castle's moat.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the Tudor fort late this afternoon. It is thought to have happened at about 6.20pm.

The black dropped about 20ft from Deal Castle Road into the dry moat below.

Kent Air Ambulance was scrambled and landed on the nearby beach, leaving at about 7pm.

A police spokesman added: "The driver was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not said to be life-threatening."
