Ward Homes, the developer at Sholden Fields on the outskirts of Deal, has sponsored Deal and Betteshanger Rugby Club’s annual fireworks spectacular.

The skies will be lit up on Friday above the club ground at the Drill Field, off Canada Road, Walmer, and the gates open at 6pm.

Pam Reardon, sales and marketing director for Ward Homes, said: “It is great to get involved with Deal and Betteshanger Rugby Club’s annual firework display, as a local house builder we feel it is important to support local events where possible.

“The club is a big part of the community in Deal and this is a substantial fundraiser for them so we are delighted to show our support.”

Ward Homes has contributed £500 to the event which last year was attended by more than 2,000 people. The spectacular will include a DJ, a band, a barbecue and bar, with the display expected to start at 7.45pm.

Serge Orlov, director of events at Deal and Betteshanger Rugby Club, said: “We are delighted that Ward Homes are on board with this year’s event, which we expect to be another great fireworks display. The event is extremely popular with the residents of Deal, so make sure you come along early to ensure you get a good spot, and don’t miss out on what we hope will be our best display ever.”

Ticket prices in advance cost £3.50 for adults, £1.50 for children and there is no charge for those under the age of five. Prices rise on the night to £4 for adults and £2 for children.

Advance tickets are on sale in Deal from the East Kent Mercury office, Queen Street; Ebdens Garage, Gilford Road;? Busters Bits, St George’s Passage, High Street; and also from the rugby clubhouse.
