THE founders of a Kent animal sanctuary are hoping their first appearance at the Kent Show will help them raise much-needed funds to continue caring for abandoned animals.

Vic and Linzi Aubourg run Hoppy’s Haven small animal sanctuary in Great Mongeham, near Deal.

They began the sanctuary in 1994, when Linzi was caring for her stepdaughter’s rescued rabbit called Hoppy, and gradually the sanctuary expanded.

Today the couple look after more than 80 different types of animals, including rabbits, chipmunks, cats, and guinea pigs.

Many of which have been abandoned and the care the couple provide includes food, shelter and vets fees.

Vic, together with Sam the chocolate labrador dog will be at this year’s Kent Show, running their own stall - number 307, selling a variety of items. Vic and Sam will be there all three days.

Sam is the sanctuary’s mascot, and loves nothing better than meeting his public. But the couple also hope to meet as many people as possible.

Vic said: "The fact is that day to day it is a struggle to make ends meet and continue providing care. But we hope to see as many people as possible at the Kent Show, and hopefully raise some vital funds."
