Walmer’s neglected crazy golf course has now been removed.

Dover District Council has confirmed the site was taken away at the end of April due to its poor condition and longer term plans for the space are currently under consideration.

A spokesman said: “The equipment was removed by contractors for Your Leisure, who lease the area from the council as part of the Walmer Green paddling pool complex, following discussions with DDC.”

Walmer's former crazy golf course could soon be home to eleven beach huts

DDC’s Property Services said there are no plans for Your Leisure to discontinue their lease of the site.

While the council are unable to expand further on what will come of the area, social media users have been sharing their thoughts.

Twitter user Marco Misticoni tweeted saying he would like to see the site turned into an outdoor gym, with obstacles and machines that are free and easy to use.

The crazy golf course has now been removed

Andy Stevens on Facebook said he thinks Deal With It gardeners should use and maintain it, planting wild flowers appropriate for the beach.

Others are keen to see it returned to a functioning crazy golf course.
