Police investigating the death of teenage cyclist Daniel Squire have sent a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, it has been revealed.

Daniel’s mother Tracy was told by her family liaison officer that the CPS could get involved and it may lead to a prosecution.

“I still feel sick and angry,” said Mrs Squire, of Reach Close, St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe.

Former St Edmund’s schoolboy Daniel was killed after the accident on the A258 Dover to Deal road at Ringwould on Saturday, September 7, 2013.

He had been cycling to meet Deal Tri friends for a morning ride – a training session for an Iron Man contest he was looking forward to.

Five months after his death, she added: “ He has left such a big hole in our lives.”

She has renewed her appeal for caution on the roads, especially when cyclists are near. “I would hate another family to lost what we’ve lost. There’s no recovery, no pill, no doctor’s note. We are never going to recover from this.”

Police press spokeswoman Jane Walker said: “A file has been sent to the CPS but what the recommendation is, I’m not going to discuss.”

Nobody has been charged.

It is expected that once the CPS has seen the file, they will tell officers what charge, if any, would be the most appropriate.
