Cyclist still in hospital one week after hit and run in Bowling Green Lane in Deal

A cyclist is still in hospital a week after he was involved in a hit and run in Deal.

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses after the incident in Bowling Green Lane at around 8.10pm on Friday, March 9.

It involved a blue BMW X5 which fled the scene despite a smashed windscreen.

A force spokesman said: "We are still investigating this incident.

"We have had a response to our appeal but would like to hear from anyone else who saw the BMW or cyclist prior to or after the collision.

"We can confirm the cyclist is still in a London hospital in a serious but not life threatening condition."

The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained serious head, rib and internal injuries and was air lifted to Kings College Hospital.

A 42-year-old man from Deal was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving but has been released pending further enquiries.
