Children at Warden House Primary School dressed up in yellow and spots to raise funds for BBC Children in Need on Friday.

Principal Graham Chisnell started the day with an assembly to celebrate and explain the work of Children in Need.

The pupils then made cakes and Pudsey Bear biscuits and held a sale during the morning break.

The school fundraising team was led by children from the Young Enterprise group and supported by Higher Level Teaching Assistant Jill Crump and teacher Paula Patton, who also organised a teddy raffle that raised more than £90.

Mr Chisnell said: “Our children’s compassion for others is quite humbling; they have been so creative in raising money for this brilliant UK charity.”

Street collection

Gail King of Beach Street in Deal also dressed up for Children in Need.

Dressed as a witch and despite the wet and cold weather she carried out a street collection from 9.30am in the morning in Deal High Street, encouraging people to give to the good cause.

She raised a whopping £729.27.

She said: “Thank you to everyone that has given. I really appreciate it.”
