A pile of fun and festive designs have been created by local schoolchildren for Dover and Deal MP Charlie Elphicke’s Christmas card competition.

Everything from penguins in woolly hats to snowflakes falling on the Palace of Westminster featured in the designs as the children added plenty of imagination and artistic talent to this year’s contest.

Judges included Dover District Council leader Keith Morris, Cllr Keith Lee represented Deal Town Council, and deputy mayor of Dover Roger Walkden and Cllr Ann Jenner represented Dover Town Council.

They helped Mr Elphicke choose the winner and runners-up.

The judging took place at the Dover and Deal Conservatives’ office in Walmer on Friday, November 10.

The winner of the competition will have their design used as the MP’s Christmas card, and the runners-up will have their image displayed on the back.

Mr Elphicke said: “Every time I run my Christmas card competition I am amazed at how gifted and imaginative our local schoolchildren are.

“I would be proud to have any of the designs feature on my card. It was such a tough choice to pick a winner.”

Mr Elphicke is writing to each of the schools whose pupils took part to let them know the results, and every child who entered will receive a certificate of congratulations.
