ONE of Kent's oldest residents has died a month after celebrating her 104th birthday.

Dolly Burns lived at Sampson Court in Mongeham Road, Deal. She was born in London, the eldest of five children.

She first visited Deal to see relatives and eventually decided she wanted to live by the sea. She put her longevity down to a passion for tennis in her younger years.

The funeral will be held at Barham, near Canterbury, on Thursday, January 2, at noon.
