Despite failing in their bid to become only the second side to win a league game at Welling in 19 months, Dover manager Nicky Forster saw enough in the game to know his team will be a force in Blue Square Bet South this season.

"We were terrific and played well," said Forster (pictured), following a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.

"We took the game to them and they are a really strong side as well. It's a tough place to go and we had them on the rack up until the 93rd minute. I was proud of every one of them.

"Welling will be in the mix come the end of the season and we gave as good as we got against them and were unlucky not to win.

"I look at us as a squad and think we’ve got a good squad with good footballers and strikers that are creating problems.

"We’re still fresh as a team, 11 games into the season, we’re still blending and will get stronger and stronger."
