Dover Athletic's Blue Square Bet South play-off hopes over after Basingstoke beat Hampton & Richmond

Dover Athletic's slim hopes of reaching the Blue Square Bet South play-offs finally disappeared on Tuesday night.

Basingstoke's 2-0 victory at Hampton & Richmond lifted the Hampshire club into fifth place in the table, three points ahead of Chelmsford and five in front of Dover with only one more round of matches to play on Saturday.

The best Whites and manager Nicky Forster, pictured, can hope for now is to finish in sixth place, one spot outside the play-off positions, providing they win at Weston-super-Mare this weekend and Chelmsford lose at home to champions Woking.

If Chelmsford beat Woking and Basingstoke lose at Welling then the Essex club will secure the final play-off spot on goal difference.
