Dover boss Martin Hayes still looking for right formula ahead of Bank Holiday double-header

Dover Athletic boss Martin Hayes admits he is still working on finding the right formula after rebuilding his squad in the summer.

Whites face the two clubs promoted from the Ryman League last season, in a Bank Holiday double-header, with play-off winners Tonbridge Angels visiting Crabble on Saturday, before a trip to champions Sutton United on Monday.

Hayes (pictured) said: “It’s still a case of trying to find the right combination at the moment, I don’t know my best side, because it changes. All of them offer something different, so it’s all about thinking what will work on a particular day.

"Nobody has let us down, I am happy with the squad, but it will take a little bit of time to come together. We have only played four games in a 42-match season, so there is long way to go.”

He added: “Tonbridge are hot and cold at the moment, proving they can score goals and win matches. We have got to make sure we don’t give them the opportunities to punish us, the way Dartford did on Tuesday.

“The pressure is on us to win at home, and I am confident we have got enough about us to go and take four or maybe six points from the weekend.”

New Venezuelan goalkeeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz continues in goal, having been signed as cover for Lee Hook, out for at least a fortnight with damaged ribs.
