The family of a school nurse from Deal who died suddenly is making sure her memory stays alive by holding a fundraising English tea party on Sunday.

Sarah Mackenzie was 42 when she passed away peacefully at her home in June. She loved youngsters, and that is why her brother David Herriott and her daughter Lauren, 20, have decided to hold the bash in aid of the Tree of Hope, a charity which gives hope to the families of sick children.

The party will be held in the grounds of Deal Welfare Club in Cowdray Square between 1pm and 6pm.

It is being organised with the help of David’s partner Sarah Brown, who will provide fresh coffees and teas from her mobile pop up coffee bar, Lillyroo’s.

"Children have always been close to her heart. She always had a passion for children in need," Sarah Brown on Sarah Mackenzie

Lauren, a trained pastry chef, will make cakes which will be served as part of the £10 entry fee along with scones.

Donations of cakes are being made by other contributors and there will be live music from JK, sponsored by the Port Arms.

Miss Brown said: “Sarah was a school nurse and children have always been close to her heart. She always had a passion for children in need.

“We chose Tree of Hope and it seemed perfect.”
