A yearly fringe music festival is being planned to run alongside the popular Deal Festival this June and July.

Organiser Oliver Seager said the aim of the event is to get pubs involved in the fun, which includes classical and contemporary musicians performing in venues around the town like the Astor Theatre, St Andrew’s Church and St Mary’s Arts Centre in Sandwich.

Oliver Seager and Brenden Carrick are launching the Deal Fringe Festival, which is being launched this year and runs alongside the Deal Festival

Mr Seager said: “Brendan Carrick, from the Walmer Castle, suggested this. He thought it would be a good idea for the pubs to get involved.”

So far 10 pubs have expressed an interest in taking part, putting on gigs at different times to complement the festival, including the Lighthouse on the Strand, The Berry in Canada Road, the Just Reproach in King Street and Borough Wines.

What will be known as Deal Fringe Festival will be held on the last weekend of the Deal Festival, Friday, July 4 through to Sunday, July 6.

If you would like to get involved by holding an event or performing, please email Oliver Seager at: o.seager@yahoo.co.uk
