Dover boss Nicky Forster has warned his squad they are all fighting for their places ahead of Saturday’s trip to Basingstoke.

Frustrated by another home defeat after Whites were beaten 3-1 by Blue Square Bet South leaders Salisbury last weekend, Forster (pictured) said: "We were outplayed and outfought by a better team and I have told the players how disappointed I am.

"We have got a strong squad and it will be used and that means everybody, including the ones who were sitting in the stands.

"They have all got a chance to stake a claim in training (this week) for the Basingstoke game."

With the exception of striker Ben May, who has now scored in five successive games, Forster admitted that Whites’ performance against Salisbury left plenty to be desired.

He said: "I would have thought that, playing at home in front of our own fans, the feeling inside the players both individually and collectively would have been that it was a great opportunity to turn over the leaders but we didn’t seem to show that."

Things did look up briefly after Forster introduced wingers Jamie Smith and Ricky Modeste in the second half and now the Dover boss has got to decide whether to give one or both them a starting place at Basingstoke.
