Thousands of pounds is expected to be raised for Martha Trust at a new one-day festival event on Sunday.

Prom on the Farm will be held in the fields of Solley’s Ice Cream Parlour in Ripple from noon until 8pm.

It replaces the annual Sandwich Prom held in the gardens of the Salutation.

The Kingsdown Band, professional guitarist Tom Abrahams and band Gypskazz and Your Shout are among those set to perform.

For the first time, and to keep in line with the farm theme, Contraband will deliver traditional English, Irish, American and Scottish folk tunes.

There will be plenty to keep the children busy, with six hours of entertainment organised by ‘Marriage Poppins’ performer Lizzie Chittenden and her dedicated team of volunteers, plus face painting by Suzanna Make-Upps and twinkle hair accessories and henna by Hannah Gunton.

Festival goers can pack a picnic or enjoy food and drink from one of the on-site vendors and bars, who will all be donating 20% of their sales back to the charity.

They include posh toasties from Say Cheese! Plus a barbecue by Hugh Irvine and authentic Jamaican street food from Reggae Shack.

Keith Morrison, director of Solley’s Ice Cream, said: “We're delighted to be hosting Prom on the Farm - a new and exciting event for a hugely worthy and local cause.

"Fun, live music, Kent food and a lovely rural venue. Come and join us and help raise money for Martha Trust at the same time."

Tickets are still available. Tickets cost £12 adults, £5 children and £30 for a family of two adults and three children under 16.
