The future of The Co-op in Deal is uncertain after the company admits it doesn’t know if it will be renewing its lease.

The lease on the supermarket in Park Street has come to an end, leaving the firm in negotiations with its landlord.

A Co-op spokesperson said: “No decision has been made over the future of the Park Street store and we are reviewing all options in line with our usual store review process.”

It is understood tenants in the flats above the shop have also been served notice to leave.

Other businesses in Park Street have been put in a similar position with antique store Full House Emporium confirming they will be leaving their premises on Saturday, September 16. They will be holding an end of lease sale.
