The Green Berry in Walmer will host a two-day beer festival to celebrate green hop beers from around the county, on Friday and Saturday.

The East Kent pub of the year will showcase around 14 green hop beers which have been brewed in Kent, contain only Kent-grown hops and have been flavoured with fresh, sun dried hops that were used within 12 hours of picking.

Business partner Bev Barnes said: “We usually have an Oktoberfest in the autumn, but we are doing something very different this year and it’s an exciting project for us. Kent is renowned for its Hop Harvest, it is an important part of our history and our future. What better way of celebrating our rich heritage than inviting people from far and wide to come and taste the wonderful beer made from our very own Kent hops?”

The award winning Berry pub is holding another beer festival

One of the beers the pub will feature is from Deal’s very own brewery - The Time and Tide brewery - and another is from Ripple Steam Brewery.

Mrs Barnes added: “The Berry is very much a community pub. We love being part of the scene in our town and enjoy being part of the wider community.”
