Drama in Dover this week as a man is rescued and more than 20 people are evacuated from fires and appeals are made following two assaults.

Market traders are warning they could be put out of business unless council fees are reduced, campaigners are once again calling for improvements to the A2 and A20 roads into Dover, and mums-to-be will have to go to other hospitals after it is revealed that the birthing centre at Buckland Hospital is to close for six weeks.

Also in the Dover Mercury this week we have a picture spread on the Pass The Passion event at Dover Castle involving children from all the schools in the area.

And we take a look at how Dover man Ray Williams (pictured above) is preparing for a model railway exhibition this weekend, as well as previewing the production of the musical Dracula by the Blackfish Academy.
