Betteshanger bowlers were in good form as they helped Kent start their Liberty Trophy indoor campaign with a 131-116 win over Hampshire.

Arthur McCaughan and Roger Kendrick were part of the highest winning rink with a 32-13 victory, while Chris Fox, David Ferguson, Mark McCaughan and Jamie Dunn won 29-19. Kent now face Surrey in the next round.

Fox teamed up with Joe Kelly and Kieran Moss in Kent’s under-25 side who beat Essex in the Double Rink competition. They won 33-15 at home, while the away rink lost by two shots, to earn a quarter-final tie against Sussex.

Betteshanger made it five wins out of five in the Kent League, beating Stone Lodge 8-2 to go second. Jim Powell, Brian Stevens, Arthur Hockley and captain Roy Allen won 16-13

The under-25s open their season against Hastings-based Falaise on Sunday.
