This picture of lightning behind Deal Pier was sent in by photographer David Christie.

Taken at about midnight, Mr Christie had rushed to the seafront when the storm started at about 10.50pm on Thursday.

He said: "I’ve been hoping to get a lightning picture of Deal Pier for quite a while now."

Mr Christie eventually left the seafront at about 2am on Friday.

The former health manager hopes to go into a career in photography and said: "It is one of my better ones."
