It's understood a fisherman witnessed the man tumble to the ground before raising the alarm at about 2.30pm.

The patient, who eyewitnesses say was a window cleaner, is understood to have fallen behind a brick wall onto an area not visible from the promenade.

The couple say another passer by clambered over the wall to sit with the casualty, with the first emergency service vehicle arriving within five minutes.

Mrs Court added: "If we had been the only one's here and hadn't noticed, he could have laid there and nobody would have known."
