She wore the pink satin number in Gentleman Prefer Blondes and the iconic white halter-neck dress.

Now a collection of outfits created for Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe will be showcased at The Royal Hotel, Deal, this weekend.

The white halter-neck, pink satin one and the purple costume from How To Marry A Millionaire are among the collection, designed by William Travilla.

Other items to be exhibited include original patterns and sketches produced by the late designer, as well as his Oscar and Emmy Award trophies.

The Travilla Collection has been organised by Andrew Hansford to raise funds for research into alzheimer’s and will open on Friday and run until Sunday.

Mr Hansford said: “The importance of the Travilla Collection can not be under-estimated.

“These are priceless iconic dresses from Marilyn Monroe’s golden era on the silver screen, and now on view for all to see. This is a significant collection of premium film fashion history.”

Tickets to visit the exhibition cost £10, with £1.50 of each ticket sold going to charity. The exhibition is open each day from 10am until 7pm.
