An appeal has been made to people living in Mill Hill, Deal, to share their views about a move to create a community centre for the area.

St Richard's Church

A meeting has been called for Thursday, February 18, and the organisers are hoping for a big turnout.

The Rev David Flewker, from St Leonard’s Church, Deal, is one of the project team working towards the possible plans for St Richard’s Church, at the top of Mill Hill.

He said: "The idea is to think of ways to make more effective use of the premises which belong to the community.

"We want people to tell us what they would like to see. Out of the open meeting at St Richard’s Church Centre we would like to establish a steering group of people who will have that commitment, rather than St Richard’s being just a church.

"It is all about the building belonging to the people and made it more widely available."

Mr Flewker said it was not necessary for the steering group members to be from the congregation.

The open meeting to explore the possibilities of developing St Richard’s Church building as a community resource centre takes place at 2.15pm at the St Richard’s Church Centre, Mill Hill, Deal, on Thursday, February 18.

For further information contact the Rev David Flewker on 01304 374076.
