Serbian lorry driver, Dragan Petric, 52, had seven and a half kilos of heroin and 18 kilos of cocaine seized from his lorry on Sunday

Seven and a half kilos of heroin and 18 kilos of cocaine were seized from a Serbian lorry driver on Sunday.

Dragan Petric, 52, who is a lorry driver from Pozarecvac appeared before the Folkestone Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the importation.

Border force officers stopped and searched the Slovenian registered lorry and its load of acoustic panels.

The drugs were found in the body of the cab.

Once cut and sold, the drugs have the potential to make millions.

Petric withheld his plea and was remanded in custody, he will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on March 24.

Following the seizure by Border Force, the investigation and prosecution are being carried out by the National Crime Agency.

Director of Border Force south east and Europe, Paul Morgan, said: “This is an excellent seizure of extremely harmful drugs and I would like to pay tribute to the vigilance and hard work of the officers involved.

“We will continue to work hard to keep our borders safe and crack down on drug smuggling.”
