Moonlight Walk a great success

Moonlight Walk

Women in party mood, wearing pink tutus, pirate costumes or even bunny ears, took to the streets of Deal on Saturday night for the charity Moonlight Walk.

More than 250 people strolled or danced the 5km to raise cash for the Pilgrims Hospices as the town played host to the event for the fourth year.

Regional fundraising manager Karen Kenward said: "It was a fantastic evening. The walkers entered into the party spirit and wowed us with the effort they put into their costumes.

"There was an incredible party atmosphere and a great sense of camaraderie. We would like to thank everyone who walked and the team at Tides for all of their support."

The event started at Tides Leisure Centre, Victoria Park, Deal, at 8pm with kmfm DJ Johnny Lewis from Sandwich getting the walkers and their supporters in a party mood.

A barbeque was organised before the procession headed to the seafront at 10pm, following the route along the beach and finishing at Tides.

Mrs Kenward added: "The ‘night to remember’ event appealed to women who wanted a good night out with their friends as well as those who are taking part in memory of a loved one."
