More than 70 homes are without power in Deal.

Bosses at UK Power Networks have apologised after residents in the Birdwood Avenue area of the town lost their supply just before 9.30am today.

A spokesman has blamed a "complex combination of faults" for causing the outage.

Spokesman Niamh Arnett said: "We apologise to residents in the Birdwood Avenue area of Deal who have experienced recent power interruptions.

"Our customer care team is keeping residents updated and our community support vehicle is on site today providing residents with hot drinks, meals, phone charging and wifi facilities.

"Seventy-six customers lost supplies at 9.23am today, following some previous interruptions since December 31.

"Engineers are on site working as quickly as possible to resolve matters by installing a temporary generator to maintain electricity supplies while we continue work to replace some equipment at the substation, and locate and repair an underground cable fault."
