National Treasures

Dover Castle was invaded by 21st century intruders when a film crew was based at the English Heritage property to present National Treasurer Live.

Dan Snow and Sian Williams went back in time to explore the underground tunnels, meet knights, try out old weapons and chat to a war veteran for the 30-minute programme.

The show was broadcast on BBC1 on Wednesday night as part of the new five-part series being aired during August which delves into all things historical up and down the country.

The series, which is part of BBC learning campaign Hands on History, sees Dan and Sian joined by a team of regular reporters and history enthusiasts as well as a host of well-known celebrities, to reveal some of the country’s most mysterious, surprising and compelling stories.
