Starbucks coffee shop opens its doors in Deal High Street today.

Tomorrow the store will host a special opening event for customers and their families, including a face painter and balloon artist.

Despite an overwhelming number of objections to the application, Dover District Council gave it the go ahead in April.

Some residents had argued that Deal did not need another cafe and it would be competition for independent coffee shops.

However Deal Town Council and the Environment Agency had no objections.

The new store, formerly Shoe Zone, will create 10 new jobs.
