Dover found themselves coming back down to earth with a bump after they were well-beaten by runaway Blue Square South champions Newport County.

Dean Holdsworth's side, who wrapped up promotion weeks ago, reached the 100 point mark for the season and were rampant in a convincing 3-0 win over play-off bound Dover.

Kerry Morgan put Newport ahead after just two minutes, pouncing on a slip by Olly Schulz. Shaun Welford was denied moments later after heading a Nicky Southall cross towards goal, but as Dover tried to find their feet, they were 2-0 down within the opening 15 minutes.

Centre back Chris Todd powerfully got his head on the end of a corner and then Danny Rose followed in the footsteps of his Tottenham namesake after the break to make it 3-0 to Newport on 68 minutes.

Joe Tabiri went close with a volley in the dying moments, but Andy Hessenthaler's side were left to watch and admire as Newport were presenting with the Blue Square South trophy after the final whistle.

Dover drop down a place to third, with one game remaining, after wins for fellow play-off contenders Chelmsford City and Braintree Town.
