Dover Athletic manager Nicky Forster has decided to register himself as a player in Blue Square South next season.

But the 38-year-old striker, pictured, says he will only play if needed, with Whites already having three front men in their squad in the shape of new signing Calum Willock, Terry Dixon and Billy Bricknell.

Forster, who scored nearly 200 goals during his long Football League career which included spells at Gillingham, Brentford, Reading and Brighton, said: "My intention is to be there when needed - if needed.

"There were times last season when perhaps my experience could have benefitted individuals and us as a team on the pitch.

"It is not a decision I have taken lightly and after talking to people who have both managed and played at this level, I feel I still have something to offer while giving us the ability to utilise another player at no extra cost."
