The Post Office in Deal was broken into last night and it is believed a laptop was taken.

At 7am this morning an employee of the Post Office realised that the window downstairs had been smashed and items from the office upstairs had been taken.

Mark Stamp, Pharmacist Manager said: "It looks like they stayed in over night, they must have stayed somewhere upstairs hidden in an office with a hammer. They must have broken into the office once everyone left.

"A laptop has gone and some other office stuff has gone, then they must have gone downstairs and put the fire extinguisher through the glass and out they go."

Mr Stamp explained that upstairs is a beautician and office space where someone must have hidden after they locked up at 5.30pm last night.

He also explained that the pharmacy itself had not been touched and no prescriptions had been tampered with.

He added: "I have no idea how much it will cost us to fix but it's definitely going to be a days work."

The Post Office is now waiting for police officers to investigate.
