Ripplevale School pupils have demonstrated their skills for the start of this year’s Walmer in Bloom Campaign.

Students at the school, in Chapel Lane, Ripple, accepted Walmer Parish Council’s challenge to build a wooden surround for the planter on the corner of Grams Road and Dover Road, after the old one was damaged.

The school’s business manager Jane Norris said: “Our pupils and staff accepted Walmer Parish Council’s request. Pupils built the planters during their design and technology lessons with help and guidance from Simon Jackson as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.”

The committee has been impressed by the school’s high standards of workmanship.

Walmer in Bloom chairman Cllr Sue Le Chevalier said: “Once again the pupils have produced an excellent high quality planter. We would like to thank residents, businesses and other organisations for making an extra special effort in continually supporting Walmer in Bloom.”

Chairman of Walmer Parish Council Cllr Pat Heath added: “We would like to thank the pupils and staff of Ripplevale for their time, energy and enthusiasm in supporting Walmer Parish Council and providing this new and improved planter.”

The council is holding its annual Picnic on the Green on Saturday, August 15 from 1pm until 5pm on Walmer Green.
